UPDATE: Marketing Assistance for the Development of Entrepreneurs in Cooperatives (COOP-MADE)

The Cooperative Development Authority´s (CDA) Cooperative Project Development Assistance Division (CPDAD), the COOP-MADE´s project implementor, recently underwent monitoring activity on the implementation of the project among the three pilot cooperatives- Kaizen MPC in Mariveles, Bataan, Barangka MPC in Marikina City and the Samana MPC in Antipolo City. It was undertaken to know who among the members pursued the meat processing business after attending a two-day Entrepreneurship Seminar on Meat Processing held last August 2007. Some member-entrepreneurs of the Kaizen MPC and Samana MPC who were mostly women had successfully pursued the business. On the other hand, Barangka MPC has yet to identify the members who attended and pursued the said business.

As a follow-up activity for the Entrepreneurship Seminar I, the CPDAD will conduct a four day Product Enhancement and Market Development Seminar in November 2007 at Samana MPC and Kaizen MPC. The activity is in consonance with the Cooperative Education Component of the COOP MADE Program aimed at providing capacity building and technical assistance on the areas of production, maintaining good quality standards and marketing of their products which are necessary to help the cooperative and its members succeed in their respective enterprise. Specifically, the activity aimed at:

1.Assessing the level of knowledge / skills learned and its application by the cooperative members in the entrepreneurship and skills seminar (meat processing);
2. Enhancing the ability of both the cooperative and cooperative members in improving the quality of meat products being produced;
3. Developing the capacity of the cooperative / cooperative members in the preparation of Marketing Plan; and
4. Increasing the level of competence of the cooperative / cooperative members in marketing / business matching.
